Do you have an Australian Life Partner who wants to sponsor you? If your partner is an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, they may be eligible to sponsor you for a Partner Visa.

People may apply if they are married to an Australian, in a de facto (common law) relationship, or have a same sex partner.

However, Australian Immigration Law, which governs how such applications are assessed by DIAC, is specific and can be strictly applied.  While all of us enter into relationships genuinely and with an open mind, the legal requirements, which must be met, may be complex and depend entirely on the supporting documentation you are able to provide for this type of visa application.

Each relationship is unique and while you don’t doubt the genuineness of your relationship, it is the nature of the evidence that you are able to provide, which will dictate whether your application is ultimately successful or not.

Also, the pathway to permanent residency, under the Partner visa category, may be in 2 or even 3 stages.  Also, there may be circumstances, such as the unexpected death of your sponsoring partner, or domestic violence, which may prevent you from pursuing the final stage to permanent residency.
