FAQs for Employers
Will sponsored workers have good English language skills?
Yes. In fact, this is a prerequisite for involvement in our program. The majority of the staff we source for Australian businesses have excellent English language skills.
What are an employer’s responsibilities to his/her sponsored staff member in terms of pay and conditions?
The nominated minimum pay rate for sponsored skilled workers on a 457 Temporary Business Long Stay Visa is $43,440 plus super. This salary is for a 38-hour working week. Overtime is paid for hours worked in addition to the 38 base hours. Relevant State Awards / Certified Agreements / Australian Workplace Agreements must be also adhered to for the remuneration of workers on 457 visas.
Sponsored workers are afforded all the same rights and conditions as per the relevant state and federal awards as local employees.
The employment conditions and payment history of sponsored workers are closely monitored by The Department of Immigration.
What is the situation with employee accommodation, health insurance, bank accounts etc?
TSS provides employers and sponsored workers with an induction pack and associated support system upon commencement of their working relationship. While employers will need to provide some assistance in these matters, the TSS system ensures that the process of integrating sponsored workers into their new working lives in Australia is as simple and straight-forward as possible.
How long will it take for TSS to source and deploy staff for my business?
This will depend on the nature of the business and the skills of the staff member(s) required. Additionally, applications with DIAC can take a number of weeks to process. Generally, it is anticipated that it will take between 8-12 weeks for TSS to source appropriate staff and coordinate all aspects of their training/accreditation. Visa application can also occur during this timeframe and the length of this process depends on DIAC.

FAQs for Overseas Candidates
How much will I earn working in Australia?
The nominated minimum pay rate for sponsored skilled workers on a 457 Temporary Business Long Stay Visa is $43,440 per annum, plus superannuation of 9% of salary. This salary is for a 38-hour working week. Additional hours worked will attract an overtime rate of pay which varies according to the industry and company worked for.
This salary amount will be 10% lower for sponsored workers placed in regional areas of Australia.
What is superannuation?
Superannuation is an additional sum of money that an employer routinely places in to a managed account on behalf of their employees. Superannuation is designed to ensure that people have enough money to live on once they have reached an age when they are no longer willing or able to work. Legally, people are only granted access to their superannuation when they reach 60 years old. This is the age at which most people retire in Australia.
A sponsored worker who choses to migrate permanently to Australia will not get access to their superannuation fund until they reach the age of 60. However, a sponsored worker who returns to their country of origin to live can gain access to their superannuation prior to departing Australia.
How much will it cost for the visa application and to migrate to Australia as a sponsored worker on one of these visa categories?
