The General Skilled Migration (GSM) program provides the largest number of available visas to Australia and therefore the greatest opportunities.
There are several different subclasses of GSM visas. Contact TSS for assessment to determine which subclass suits your individual circumstances.
In most cases, applicants will be required to nominate a skilled occupation, as contained on the DIAC Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Having done that, an applicant’s qualifications and experience will need to be assessed by a relevant skill assessing body, before moving on to the visa application stage.
The requirements of individual assessing bodies will vary according to the nature of the occupation nominated and there may be a number of pathways available, in order to attain a successful assessment outcome. For instance, Engineers Australia, the Australian Government authorized body to conduct skills assessment for all of the Engineering disciplines, provides a number of pathways to reach a successful skill assessment. Pathways range from Accords which automatically recognize qualifications obtained from certain countries to Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) for qualifications held from other countries.
The skilled visa program generally requires applicant to meet a skills points test. TSS Immigration will guide you through the entire process, from start to finish.
GSM Visas provide the visa holder with Permanent Residency in Australia, but they are still a visa, subject to renewal, should the holder need to travel overseas. While the visa holder must meet certain conditions to maintain the status of that visa, they are not locked into to remaining within Australia indefinitely, so they are free to travel and conduct business overseas.
Another major benefit to holding a Permanent Residency visa is that the holder and their family have access to Australian Government funded Medicare and their children may attend Government Schools and pay local fees. This benefit also extends to tertiary education, where students are no longer required to pay tuition fees as overseas students.
As the holder of a GSM visa, you may live and work in any area of Australia of your choosing.
